Japanese Club Notes From My Presidency

Word of the day: Kenja Time. According to Urban Dictionary, it refers to the "period of clear thoughts when a man is free from sexual desires after having an orgasm."
--Japanese Urban Dictionary

Here is the original outline of  the Itinerary we made before the semester started. It was a slow start, but this is what we ended up with. Half of this was modified, but because I did it on paper and recycled the notebook promptly afterwards, I cannot edit it to show exactly what we did and when. I hope this gives some insight to what an American University's Japanese club does.

I have also attached a copy of our Board Member Application Sheet. I didn't design this, but I wish I had because it is too brief and really did not do much to attract people to the positions. What happened was that a bunch of people ended up settling for positions just because they could add it to their resume as proof of social speaking abilities. I ended up fighting with most of them just to get through every single board meeting because they all wanted to do things in the order they wanted, not in the most logical or sensible order possible. The Activities Chair spent most of the time cutting everyone off and yelling at me because she just didn't like me. If someone is going to be in a position of influence and leadership, whether they like each other or not, they need to try to get along. I did my best to work with her and work around her, but she made it nearly impossible for anyone to want to work with her. Unfortunately, because of her temper and controlling nature, she ended up chasing away about half of the remaining board members after I had graduated.

If I ever take a position of leadership for a club again, I will reconsider based off of the attitudes and natures of the people around me. I don't need the extra stress of immature people ruining my fun and plans just because they don't want to do something or work on big events in advance--liking to put important things off until the end. Ugh, interacting with other people in an organization seems tedious after dealing with someone like her.
